Since then, the arrogant aelves extracted souls that once Slaanesh devoured during the destruction of the Old World, to repopulate the Mortal Realms with new civilizations (the Daughters of Khaine, the Idoneth Deepkin and the Lumineth Realm-lords). Godseekers are out there hunting for any trace of the Dark Prince’s whereabouts, which seems odd given the recent story developments around Morathi. But here we are. Their big trait is that they get +1 to charge rolls. In army construction they’re compelled to take Seekers, and they score Depravity points (D3) when their general makes a charge, plus one more if another Godseekers unit does as well. This is easier to score but much less loaded than before. If two of the dice show the same value, they can be used to activate a Double ability. If three show the same value, they can be used for a Triple ability, and so on. The Excruciator Lash instead increases the range to 3″, loses a bit of Strength (3) but he is also the cheapest option and the 3″ range allows him to benefit for all melee buffs while keeping a safe distance from enemies or just to hide behind a Myrmidesh. The worship of Slaanesh often starts with a simple demand from the deity, to pursue their innermost desires without restraint or regret. This edict has become popular and prominent amongst bastions of civilisation. Failing artists, struggling playwrights and overworked citizens are common victims to this command, since Slaanesh provides these people a muse or simple succour. The gatherings of such souls are clandestine, the pleasures experienced in these private groups often start benign, it is a simple reprieve from everyday life.

Into the Underworlds

Note: if you haven’t read the basic rules for Warcry before reading this article, it might be helpful to know that the game’s abilities are activated by using 6 dice that you roll at the start of your turn. As previously mentioned, the new edition of Warhammer Age of Sigmar is set to shake up a fair few rules and create some interesting opportunities for your Hedonite armies. To find out just how they’ll be adapting to these changes, we asked our playtester and tournament-winning master of all things Slaanesh Mike Willson to give us his thoughts and advice. Symbaresh Twinsouls are warriors (usually ex- myrmidesh) of the Slaanesh Sybarites that, chafing amongst being one amongst the faceless many, took the shortcut to power and allowed themself to be possessed by a daemon of Slaanesh - this is achieved through ritualistically marking their bodies with runes of conjugation and offering up the souls of six aelves. As an added bonus, any wounds Shardslash inflicts cannot be negated, making Sigvald one of the most reliable assassins in the game. Did we mention you’re going to want him in your army? Taking up weapons of their own choosing and discarding their helms (the better to draw the Dark Prince’s gaze) they gleefully forgo the mono-obsessive techniques of their blade-cult in favour of displaying their own inventive skills. These egomaniacs constantly compete against one another to perform the most impressive feats in battle, shrieking rhapsodies of self-praise all the while. [1a] Sources

The Myrmidesh are the tankiest unit Slaanesh has ever seen. With Toughness 5 and decent wounds (20 and 15 respectively) they represent the objective holders, the guys that “can get the job done”.Although if you want to create an entire ranged warband, you can and you also have astonishing models to use. You can even complement it with a Shardspeaker to protect your core units when engaged. And you cannot leave home without a Blissbrew Homonculus as it increases Strength when using archers’ signature move Volley of Tearing Blades. The good thing about those 2 abilities is that to be efficient you don’t need a high value: a Triple 1 is enough for the Shardspeaker and a Quad 2 or 3 for the Lord of Pain (you don’t need more than Strength 6 and in most cases 5 is enough).

Slakeslash is a Slaangor Fiendblood with higher damage (3/6) and wounds (22) and same ability to perform a bonus run towards a close enemy (remember that now costs a Double not a Triple). Summoned units are placed wholly within 12” of any hero or your Fane fo Slaanesh and more than 9” away from enemy models. The Myrmidesh are your perfect defensive piece, with one of the highest Toughness available in game together with a decent melee profile. Slaanesh has been imprisoned since the Age of Myth by the Aelven Pantheon (Tyrion, Teclis, Malerion and Morathi) in the Hidden Gloaming, a sub-realm between Hysh, the realm of Light, and Ulgu, the Realm of Shadow. If you’re a Hedonites player, you’ve got good reason to be excited about this new tome – the new range looks great, some of the units are really strong, and there’s good reason to believe that this new version of the army will return the faction to its place among the game’s top-tier armies.Before we dive in, note that we won’t be covering everything – stay tuned for an upcoming Start Competing: Hedonism for more depth.
