Tem algumas cenas um pouco fortes, ou não fosse o tema o tráfego de meninas para prostituição mas é sem duvida um livro que recomendo a toda a gente que goste de romances e fiquei com vontade de ler rapidamente mais livros desta escritora.

Serve como meio de entretenimento (e mesmo nesse aspecto parece-me que poderia ter funcionado melhor com menos floreado e menos páginas, pois a dada altura começou a tornar-se maçador e foi necessária alguma paciência para chegar ao fim). Encontramos Belle, um jovem de 15 anos que não conhece outra realidade senão a do mundo da prostituição. This book is set in London in 1912 which was really interesting and it even mentioned the sinking of the Titanic!

Mas louvo a ASA por ter traduzido o livro numa linguagem directa e frontal sem meias palavras nem rodeios, aqui não há meios termos, sendo usado muitas vezes o vocábulo "puta". Temos também um bom leque de personagens secundárias, principalmente Ettiene, que foi tão bom descobrir. Pearse fell flat by not leveraging the colorful era/ locales instead you really couldn't tell when or where it was until a character told you. Her father was away at sea and it was only when a neighbour saw Lesley and her brother playing outside without coats on that suspicion was aroused - their mother had been dead for some time.Her annoying naivety and eagerness to divulge her story to anyone she meets seems out of character for someone who has gone through so much at a young age. Mas passada esta dificuldade inicial e tendo-me abstraído um pouco da idade da personagem, achei a história absolutamente envolvente. Não é uma leitura fácil mas que recomendo sem dúvida tanto pela pesquisa da autora como pela própria personagem, um exemplo coragem.
